Microsoft Challenges 'APP STORE' trade mark.

Microsoft has filed an opposition to the US Trade Marks Office to prevent the 'App Store' trade mark from being registered by Apple, Inc. on the grounds that, like the terms 'Shoe Store' or 'Toy Store', it is a generic term and subsequently too descriptive for registration purposes.

It will be interested to see whether Microsoft also attempts to invalidate Apple's 'App Store' trade mark that has been registered in the European Community since 2008.
